How to track decluttering room by room

Use categories for what the thing is, and tags for where it was. In Declutter Quest that means a pair of shoes from the hall closet is category Clothes, tag "Entryway".

Categories come built in (15 of them) and you can add your own. Tags are yours to make, each with its own color. Tags are a Premium feature, and they're the most flexible thing in the app:

  • Rooms: Kitchen, Bathroom, Kids' room, Garage
  • Projects: Moving, Mom's house, Yard sale
  • Where it's going: a resale app, a particular charity

An entry can have several tags, so the shoes can be "Entryway" and "Moving" at once.

Once you've tagged a few weeks of entries, the journal can filter by any tag, and the statistics show your top tags. That's when you find out the kitchen produced three times more clutter than the bedroom, which is useful to know before you plan the next weekend.

You can even give the +1 button a default tag, so quick taps land in the right room.
